Second Round Interview with Tony Finau
Q. Take us through the hole-in-one.
TONY FINAU: Yeah, that was fun. I watched two really good shots right in front of me so I think it kind of opened the green up a little bit. I kind of had a good idea how far it was playing being the last guy to hit. Still got to execute the shot.
Q. What was the club and shot shape?
TONY FINAU: Yeah, it was 199 yards, a little bit of help wind so I had an 8iron. Just tried to pitch it like 190, 192, right in there and obviously I hit it perfect.
Q. How about the timing, chasing the cut?
TONY FINAU: Yeah, I know, it was really timely. That's why I reacted the way I did, I needed something to go my way. I was leaking oil kind of coming in and really shoot myself in the foot on a chance to play the weekend, so it was a huge shot at the right moment.
Q. What's the value having two more days ahead of next week?
TONY FINAU: Yeah, a hundred percent, that's the big thing for me. It's the reason I'm actually here this week. I wasn't planned to play in this event but my game didn't feel as sharp as it needs to be I feel to play well at Augusta, so I'm here and happy to get two more rounds in.
Q. What would you like to tighten up over Saturday and Sunday?
TONY FINAU: I actually hit it pretty nicely. I made two squirrelly swings at the wrong time on the back and ended leading me down this bogey train, but overall just happy to have two more rounds to play competitively and just to compete.
