Second Round Interview with Matt Wallace

Q. Matt, 5 under today, 7 under through two rounds, what's working best for you so far?

MATT WALLACE: Everything, I think everything has to be kind of on point to be at the top of this leaderboard because if you hit poor tee shots, you'll be, well, chipping out or behind rocks and trees, which aren't obviously the best places to be. So off the tee was really good yesterday, wasn't so good today but it was OK, and then putting for me at the moment is probably the most important thing and the key that I'm trying to look at the most.

Q. A couple of guys have talked about how challenging this course is. What about it makes it so difficult?

MATT WALLACE: I just love it. I love how it makes you anxious on the tee, I love how it tightens you up, I love how you have to hit good shots. I'd say a complete opposite to last week where it's wide and you can miss loads of fairways and still be OK going into the greens, whereas here if you miss fairways, you better put your big pants on.

Q. You talked about how challenging it is, but it sounds like you're comfortable here.

MATT WALLACE: Yeah, yeah. I mean, having good results in the past, and playing with Jordan in '21 Saturday and Sunday and kind of being there with him, I kind of know how you need to play this golf course. And you need to play it well, that's pretty much it. You need to play it how he played it that week, which was really good. Putting nicely. Yeah, I'm trying to stay on that same trend and hit the ball well and see some putts go in.
