Reigning U.S. Amateur Champion Curtis Luck To Make Professional Debut At Valero Texas Open

This Week’s Master’s Tournament Will Be Luck’s Final Event As An Amateur

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Tournament officials announced today that 2016 United States Amateur Champion and the World’s No. 1 ranked amateur, Curtis Luck, will make his professional debut when he tees it up at the 2017 Valero Texas Open, scheduled for April 20-23 at TPC San Antonio’s AT&T Oaks Course.

Luck, who will conclude one of the most decorated amateur careers in golf history this week at The Master’s Tournament, is coming off a year in which he won the U.S. Amateur Championship, Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the World Amateur Team Championship en route to becoming the top-ranked amateur in the world.

“We are thrilled to have such an accomplished young golfer in our field,” said the tournament’s Executive Director Larson Segerdahl. “The fact that Curtis is making his professional debut here in San Antonio just makes it that much more special for him and us. I’m certain he’ll continue to enjoy tremendous success throughout his pro career.”

Luck adds to an already strong field of competitors lined up for this year’s Valero Texas Open. Among those who will be competing alongside Luck at Augusta National this week and then again in San Antonio include Roberto Castro, Kevin Chappell, Branden Grace, Adam Hadwin, Charley Hoffman, J.B. Holmes, Billy Hurley III, Zach Johnson, Si Woo Kim, Ryan Moore, Kevin Na, Patrick Reed, Brendan Steele, Daniel Summerhays, Jhonattan Vegas, and Jimmy Walker.
