The inaugural Valero Texas Collegiate golf tournament kicks off tomorrow with a college-am event followed by a three-day tournament concluding on Monday, September 11. The tournament held at TPC San Antonio will feature some of the finest college golfers in the country as well as some storied golf programs in the NCAA, with the individual winner of the tournament receiving an exemption into the 2024 Valero Texas Open.

The University of Texas at San Antonio will serve as the tournament host and compete with teams that include the current top-ranked universities Vanderbilt University, University of Oklahoma, University of Virginia, University of Georgia, Baylor University, Georgia Southern University, University of Louisville, Liberty University, Texas Christian University, Louisiana State University, and Florida Gulf Coast University.

The player field consists of:

StarThe No. 1 Ranked Amateur in the World, Gordon Sargent from Vanderbilt.
StarFive players in the Top-30 in the World: No. 1 Gordon Sargent (Vanderbilt), No. 14 Cole Sherwood (Vanderbilt), No. 24 William Moll (Vanderbilt), No. 26 Drew Goodman (Oklahoma), and No. 30 Ben Lorenz (Oklahoma).
StarThirteen of the Top-100 in the World will be competing in the Valero Texas Collegiate.
StarOne of the players in the field competed in the 49th edition of the Walker Cup last week. Gordon Sargent was a member of this year's victorious U.S. team that defeated England/Ireland 14.5-11.5 in the bi-annual amateur match play event contested on the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. Sargent won all four of the matches he played.
StarSeven of the schools competing in the Valero Texas Collegiate have had players compete in the Walker Cup through the years - Georgia (15), Georgia Southern (1), Louisville (1), LSU (2), Oklahoma (4), Vanderbilt (3), and Virginia (1).
StarEight of the schools competing have had alumni compete on the PGA TOUR through the years - Baylor (3), including Jimmy Walker; Georgia (37), Georgia Southern (4), LSU (19), Louisville (5), Oklahoma (13), and Virginia (4).
StarThe field also includes five of Golf Channel's Top-30 teams entering the fall (Vanderbilt - No. 2, Oklahoma - No. 8, Virginia - No. 11, Georgia - No. 22, and Baylor - No. 28).
The Valero Texas Collegiate will provide a PGA TOUR tournament experience to players in the field including locker room access with name plates on lockers; Valero Texas Open pin placements; and Valero Texas Open hole-par-yard signs and tee fences.

Charities and schools are always trying to get creative in raising funds while minimizing risks and incurring unnecessary costs yet maximizing successful and impactful results. With that in mind, the Valero Texas Open continues to provide an opportunity to assist with fundraising strategies.

Champions fore Charity is unique in that there are NO COSTS except staff time... and participating organizations receive 100% of funds generated and sometimes more with incentives offered, like a 7% match provided by the Valero Texas Open and the Champions fore Charity program partners. Isn't it difficult to pass on 107% revenue with zero risk?

Funds are generated by soliciting donations from individuals and corporations with the flexibility to pay in advance or to be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible, thanks to the Valero Texas Open's non-profit 501(c)3 status. The seven month campaign will kick off in October and will conclude in April 2024 - providing ample time to fundraise as much or as little of the season as desired.

Registration to participate in the 2023-2024 fundraising campaign for charities and schools is underway. All types of philanthropies, as well as, school programs like athletic teams, dance & cheer, science programs, PTA, Project Graduation and much more... are all welcome to participate. We look forward to helping more charities raise funds!
